A new world record has been set for the marathon. Sawe from Kenya finished the London marathon in 1 hour 59 minutes and 30 seconds. It is the first time a marathon has been run in under 2 hours. That is over a minute faster than the previous record.

Perhaps even more amazingly, the second-place runner, Yomif Kejelcha from Ethiopia, also ran under 2 hours. It was his first ever marathon! A marathon is a run of 42.195km.

The London marathon is a big event for the UK. 59,830 finished the run but more people tried their best but didn't finish... There was even a person running with a fridge on their back! Amazing...
