3000 people went for a naked swim on the shortest winter day in Australia. It is

an event held every year since 2013.

The swim is to celebrate the winter solstice (the day after the longest night). They are celebrating because the days will get longer from now and spring will come soon. The people were men and women and young and old adults. The temperature was 6C and 12C in the water.

What temperature is your bath? Would you like to do it? I would like to try but I think I am too nervous and shy! I think if I don’t look at anybody else, then maybe it is OK…

It is held every year and people buy tickets to take part. Last year was just 2000 people but this year increased. It is part of a festival in Tasmania (the large island to the south east of Australia). Those people are crazy, what do you think?

I hope they all got a nice warm drink soon after the swim!
