If we don't eat, we get grumpy. If we eat too much, we get sick. Food can have a powerful effect on us. Do you ever feel happy when you eat something?
My favourite foods make me feel good. Drinking beer (usually non-alcoholic!), eating curry or chocolate makes me happy. At least, I feel happy for a little bit. But, how about later? Do I still feel happy 6 hours later? Or how about days later?
Studies have shown that chocolate makes us relaxed and happier. As long as we only eat a small amount. Too much sugary food can make us feel depressed.
Bread and cookies make us feel good quickly, but can make us feel low on energy later in the day. Sweet potatoes, oats, beans and quinoa are better. Fruits and vegetables make us feel happy and are really good for us, too.
For our health, it is best to eat a good balance of protein, fat, fibre, carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables. A healthy diet makes us feel fit and strong!
