Japan Imports Rice from Korea

Japan is going to import rice from Korea to try to help reduce the cost of rice. This will be the first time in 25 years.

The rice is a small amount but it is hoped that it will reduce the cost of rice in Japan. The price has shot up by more than double in a year.

There are concerns in Japan about the quality of rice from overseas. In the UK rice is enjoyed from many different countries. Rice comes from India, Pakistan, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. It is extremely difficult to buy Japanese rice in the UK.
