An 89 year-old man has been released from deathrow after 46 years. He was wrongly convicted of murder in 1966. He will receive $1.4m in compensation. That is ¥217,362,500,000 or ¥12,500 for every day he was on deathrow (over half his life). There was a retrail and it was found that police had tampered with evidence.
