Languages are difficult. I studied German and Spanish at University. I studied those languages for 6 years. It was difficult, but fun. I loved studying at university.

Japanese is different. I learned Japanese when I was 16 for 2 or 3 years. Then I stopped because my interests and my job changed. But while I was studying for my degree, the idea came to work in Japan. So, I started learning again. I have studied Japanese (again) since 2016 (so, for about 8 years) and I have lived in Japan for nearly 5 years.

So, I learned German AND Spanish in 6 years (both languages). My Japanese has improved since 2016, but it is not as good as the other languages. That is a big time difference...

The reason I think is not the reading and writing but the culture and my laziness. I don't study enough and I don't speak enough. So, my Japanese is bad. But, the culture in Japan is so different that people also speak differently.

I need to be more confident and speak more. If I speak and read more Japanese, I will improve.

頑張ります....
