Mount Lyell Shrew filmed and photographed for the first time!

The Mount Lyell shrew has been filmed for the first time! The shrew is an extremely small and cute animal native to the USA. But there are different species of shrew around the world.
Three students from the University of California set one hundred and fifty traps. The shrews are active all year at altitudes of over 2000m. Their metabolism is very fast and they need to eat every 2 hours or they will die. So, the students needed to check the traps every 2 hours over a 24 hour period. The students slept for just 2 hours at a time. The shrew is just 10cm in length. They eat about the same as their body weight every day.
They caught 5 shrews. After capturing the shrew, they took photos, videos and a DNA sample then let them go.
