Yokohama Gundam Shuts Down

The life-sized Gundam robot in Yokohama shut down for the last time last month. There was a big closing ceremony to celebrate.

It was opened in December 2020 and was planned to shut down in 2022 but because of the COVID-19 pandemic (コロナ) and public demand it was delayed until this year. More than 1.75 million people visited the robot. The ceremony had fireworks and a drone light show to celebrate the shutdown. The series creator Yoshiyuki Tomino was there to thank fans.
