The New Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be $449US

The new Nintendo Switch 2.

The Nintendo Swich 2 will be $449US (￥66375). In Japan there will be two prices. A Japanese-language-only version will be ￥49980 ($339US) and a multi-language version will be ￥69980 ($474US). So, if you speak Japanese you can get a Nintendo Switch 2 for ￥20000 ($136US) cheaper in Japan! That is disappointing... Here is a table showing the different prices around the world:

￥70000 is a lot of money and if the Switch 2 is cheaper in Japan than the USA or UK then people will buy them from Japan and not in the USA or UK. But, it locks Japanese people out of playing in English or other languages. Switching the language in a video game is an easy way to new experiences. It is great for language learners. I am very disappointed that Nintendo are locking Japanese kids out of playing in English (unless they pay ￥20,000 more).

I think that Nintendo anticipated tariffs from the USA and wanted a cheaper version in Japan. I understand that, but it is still personally disappointing.

I will probably buy a Switch 2, eventually... Maybe in a year or two. I hope that the Joy-cons are better than the Switch's. Mine have broken twice in 7 years!
